Hello, I am Oleksii and this is my first blog about the creative journey!
For those who don't know anything about me, I recently graduated in Film Production and am pursuing my Computer Science degree. And OXH is a short/custom say for 'Oleksih', which is my pseudonym.
My journey was full of surprises from the very beginning. One day I was focused on building a career in Computer Science, another, in Mass Communication, then Film Production, and now we are going back to where everything started, but let's not get ahead of ourselves. Let me tell you my story)
Part I. The Beginning
It was a usual cold morning, having white windows as someone would put a piece of paper behind them. A little breeze was coming from an opened window behind me, bringing the sound of wind and rustling trees. Wearing a light grey sweater, I was staring at the piles of equipment in front of me, a professor was walking in the background sharing some information about today’s lecture with the classroom. Greyish walls, with a few stripes of brown and blue, surrounded a few dozens of people, who, chattering with each other, were welding some circuits on their tables.
The classroom seemed like a well-rehearsed symphony of thoughts, which filled up the room, creating a flow of creativity and inspiration. Seemed like this class would be the fastest class I ever had until the beautiful harmony of the classroom was disrupted by a loud rumble of the door. I was sitting in the last row and was able to see the disturbed eyes of my classmates, as someone's outline was appearing through the door. The classroom started to fill up with a new ambiance, which shuttered the well-organized harmony of the room.
The head of the department entered the room, sharing exciting news about the opportunities for the best students and others who are interested. As information filled the room, new sensations appeared, as if something was about to happen. The professor stood up in front of the classroom with a question about those, who were eager to be part of it. A dense cloud of deep silence started to fill the room. And, the only voices I was able to hear were my thoughts, which, with every fraction of time, were transferring into doubts about this whole idea.
From a young age, I was used to receiving false information from different sources, whether news channels, radio, or classmates whispering in my ear. And, this moment shared a very similar sensation to those, that I had while receiving some fake information.
* It is too good to be true – *
sounded the last complete thought in my head. And, while time passed by and interested students had already spoken with the head of the department, this thought was holding me from making any moves. I felt like my legs suddenly got heavier in million times and any motion would destroy them. And, my gut was trying to give me the strength to make the effort.
One, two, three.
The moment my body coordinated with my thoughts and gut, I found myself in a quiet classroom, with people welding circuits and listening to the lecture of the professor. Was it all a dream? No, it sounded like a dream but was real I thought. Worried thoughts were filling my mind and for a second I felt like I missed the opportunity of my whole life.
As I was about to feel a chunk of depression and sadness, I came back to reality and convinced myself that – it was too good to be true. In a chaotic flow of my thoughts and the chattering of other people, I recognized the melody of celebration, a sample that made me happy in any situation and any condition. A melody that represents my progress and growth – it was the school bell, which started a little chaos all over the school. It seemed like just a second ago I was enjoying the symphony of deep silence, and more than ever inspired to create something beautiful, and now I am surrounded by hundreds of people, focused on the red sign at the end of the corridor – exit of the building.
In an unstoppable flow of people, rushing towards the exit of the building, I received a call, which completely changed my life. At first glance, I was extremely annoyed about the fact that I was a part chaotic environment, trying to maintain a conversation with friends and received a phone call out of thin air. It seemed like something from above had manifested for my day to go south. The moment I picked up my phone, I heard a soft-sounding voice, which wrapped me in confusion and slight irritation. It was the professor, sharing that without me knowing, she registered me for an interview about the transfer opportunity, which will take place in a couple of minutes. At the moment it was the last thing I wanted to worry about, but today I am extremely grateful for it. After a few rounds around the hall and a few doubtful ideas, I started rushing towards my destination. As everyone was trying to escape the college as fast as possible I became an obstacle, who tried to get back inside of the building. With a chunk of effort and a few magical words, I got to my destination point. And, what do you think I found in there?
In this blog series, I will be sharing my experiences, stepping stones, failures, and successes of my projects, with some of that personal life experience ^-^
